A New Home for the Braille Literacy Challenge
The Braille Literacy Challenge is entering an exciting new chapter, with the Queensland Tennis Centre becoming the new home of Australia's premier braille literacy event.
Generously provided as a gift by Queensland Tennis Centre and Tennis Queensland, the venue will welcome students who are blind or have low vision from across the state to celebrate and strengthen their braille skills in a world-class environment.
The event is proudly sponsored by the Ash Barty Foundation and supported by the Lord Mayor's Community Fund and the Councillor for Tennyson Ward, Cr Nicole Johnston.
Together, these partners are helping create an extraordinary experience that celebrates achievement, encourages learning and highlights the life-changing importance of braille literacy.
More Than a Competition
The Braille Literacy Challenge is designed to foster excellence in braille reading and writing while building confidence, independence and connection among participants.
For many students, the Challenge is one of the few opportunities to come together with peers who share similar experiences. It creates a space where braille is celebrated, friendships are formed and participants are encouraged to embrace their potential.
Strong braille literacy skills play a vital role in education, employment and independence. By nurturing these skills from an early age, the Challenge helps equip young people with tools that can support them throughout their lives.
