This course is designed for print users who want to understand, read, or write Unified English Braille (UEB) by sight (not touch). The course can be completed in person at Braille House, via distance or via zoom or teams.
The course is useful to individuals interested in understanding, reading or writing Unified English Braille, including:
- Teachers and teacher aides,
- Parents and relatives of braille reading children or adults, and
- Carers and other health professionals.

- Certificate Course in Unified English Braille (UEB)
- Duration: 10 weeks (on-site) or 16 weeks (distance mode)
- Certificate of Completion issued upon satisfactory completion
Cost
- $595.00 (incl. GST)
- Includes all instruction, materials, and a manual
- Payment options: upfront (EFTPOS or Direct Deposit) or instalments
- Perkins machine hire (if required): $90.75* for 3 months
Coursework
- Homework exercises submitted throughout the course
- Exercises can be completed using:
- Perky Duck (free software download)
- Perkins machine (hire available)

Tuesday commencing 3 February 2026 - 1.30pm-4.30pm, Tuesdays for 10 weeks.
Wednesday commencing 4 February 2026 - 1.30pm-4.30pm, Wednesdays for 10 weeks.
All dates have the option of attending in person at Braille House, or via Zoom or Teams. You can also enrol at anytime via distance learning to complete the course at your own pace.
