I want to express my gratitude to Braille house for the Braille lessons I have been doing the last 3 years.

I know that a tremendous amount of effort, by many people, has gone into providing this service for me.  A service that will enable me to continue to function in society and to increase my own interests and intelligence.  I appreciate Kay who is the "relief teacher" and the library people who send me interesting books and everyone else that I don't know about.

The course is extremely well put together and I have enjoyed that aspect of learning a new language.

In particular I am incredibly grateful to my teacher, Margaret, who week after week for 3 years has been my wonderfully knowledgeable and understandingly patient teacher. Her stories and knowledge around vision have broadened my understanding of the vision loss community, the challenges they face, their courage and their successes.  And this has built my courage to go forward.

Margaret really has a gift for teaching and a knack for gently, firmly and with great positivity, encouraging her students into pressing on with their studies.

For those of us who have acquired vision loss/vision impairment later in life it can be rather confronting emotionally, to be forced by circumstances beyond our control to have to learn Braille.  It "confirms our disfunction" or inability to go on in life as we had expected.  It confirms our loss.  Margaret has skillfully and wisely helped me to navigate more than dots on a page and I will always be grateful to her.

I hope you will convey my gratitude to all those who have been part of my learning journey.
